ITINERARY

DAY 01: SEPT 15 – DEPART FOR LHASA
DISCOVERY OF INDIA welcomes you at Kolkata Airport departure gate no.3C. Today your journey will began to the most popular destinations of China with Lhasa
Check in Airport : Friendly Tour Director from Discovery of India will assist you in your Airport check in, After immigration you will board on Kunming bound flight. On arrival Kunming you need to transfer to next gate to board on Lasha bound flight.
DAY 02: SEPT 16 – ARRIVE LHASA
Upon arrival, Your guide will pick you up at the arrival hall and escort you to your hotel in downtown Lhasa while you enjoy the stunning views along the Yarlong Tsangpo River.
Lhasa is one of the most"want to visit" cities in the world. People want to visit Lhasa either because of its remoteness or its impressive heritage of over a thousand years of Tibetan culture and religion.
Sandwiched by the colossal mountain ranges to the north and south and located on the north banks of the Lhasa River, Lhasa is the capital of the Tibet Autonomous Region of P.R.C. and also the center for Tibetan politics, economy, culture, and religion.
After check in, the rest of the day is for you to acclimate to the high altitude and weather of Lhasa. You should avoid strenuous physical activities during this period since this may cause high altitude sickness.
DAY 03: SEPT 17 – LHASA SIGHTSEEING
After breakfast, start an incredible day of exploration in Lhasa city. The grandiose Potala Palace will be the first site to discover. After more than 1300 years of historical changes, this colossal Palace still dominates the skyline of Lhasa city. The Palace is the political and religious center of Tibet and has served as the governance and preaching site for the Dalai Lama. Climbing up the sacred steps to the Red Palace and White Palace you will explore their marvelous interiors full of exquisite Thangkas, numerous Buddha statues, vivid wall paintings, and other works of Buddhist art.
In the afternoon, visit the holiest Buddhist temple in Tibet, Jokhang Temple, where the 12-year-old-like Shakyamuni statue is consecrated. With a history stretching over 1,300 years, this temple combines the architecture styles of Tibet, China, Nepal and India. As a spiritual center of Tibet, Jokhang Temple attracts hundreds of devoted pilgrims to worship there every day. Outside the door of Jokhang Temple is the famous pilgrimage circle, Barkhor Street, where you can join faithful Tibetans in colorful attires walking the circle around Jokhang Temple.
DAY 04: SEPT 18 – LHASA SIGHT SEEING
After breakfast, we start our day with a visit to the summer palace of Dalai Lamas and also the largest Tibetan garden – Norbulingka Park. The luxuriant trees and flowers, cool ponds and comfortable palaces make Norbulingka the best place for summer retreat. Then drive about 5km westward to Drepung Monastery. The monastery used to play a crucial role in Tibet Buddhism as the school of Dalai Lamas. As you walk further, immense temples, chapels leap to your eyes one after one. In its heyday, there were more than 10,000 monks living and studying in the monastery. Various Buddhist rituals are held in the monastery during festivals, most famous one is the ceremony of Buddha Display in annual Shoton Festival.
We will then go to visit another featured Sera Monastery. This six hundred year-old monastery is famous for its grand ceremony of Buddhism debating apart from its beautiful temples with sensational icons, murals and history.
DAY 05: SEPT 19 – LHASA – XIAN BY TRAIN (ROOF OF THE WORLD)
After breakfast you will be transferred to Lhasa Railway station for departure to Xian by soft sleeper coach
Overnight in Train, packet lunch & dinner.
DAY 06: SEPT 20 – ARRIVE XIAN
On arrival at xian station you will be transferred to hotel, Check in the hotel and after some rest proceed to visit the Tang Dynasty Show in the evening. Dinner & Overnight in Xian.
DAY 07: SEPT 21 – XIAN SIGHTSEEING
After breakfast, drive about 40km to discover one of the greatest man-made wonders in the world – the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, built by the first emperor of China Qin Shihuang to protect him in his afterlife. Over 8,000 life-size warriors, horses and chariots, buried in 3 pits for more than 2,000 years until uncovered by a local farmer in 1974, form an ancient military army with complete battle units of infantry, cavalry, etc. Standing in front of these figures, one can’t help being amazed not only by the ambition of Emperor Qin Shihuang but also by the fabulous artistic skills of ancient Chinese artisans. Later pay a visit to the Arts and Crockery Factory. Chinese lunch and Indian dinner. Overnight in Xian.
DAY 08: SEPT 22 – XIAN – BEIJING BY HI SPEED TRAIN
Today after breakfast check out hotel and proceed to visit the wonderful stroll on the Ancient City Wall, the largest and best-preserved ancient city wall in China. Enjoy panoramic views of modern Xian while you leisurely examine this well-maintained city wall which is 12 meters high and 18 meters wide with a total circuit of nearly 14 kilometers Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Big Wild Goose Pagoda is the most famous building in the temple. The pagoda, rising to a height of 64.5 meters, was built by the famous Buddhist master Xuanzang to preserve classic scriptures he bought back from India during the early Tang Dynasty. Indian lunch. Afternoon transfer to the railway station for overnight Hi speed train to Beijing, in ac soft sleeper coach. Packed dinner.
DAY 09: SEPT 23 – ARRIVE BEIJING
On arrival, after breakfast at KFC or similar fast food restaurant, you will be transferred to the hotel. Early check in is not guaranteed. Today start explore the historical face of Beijing with a brief visit to Tiananmen Square, now the largest city plaza in the world. Tiananmen Gate on the northern side of the square was the site where Chairman Mao announced the establishment of the People's Republic of China. Stepping into the Tiananmen, you will see one of the world’s five most important palaces – the Forbidden City, a huge palace complex of more than 9,000 rooms where 24 emperors of the Ming and Qing Dynasties lived. Pass through various doorways in this magnificent structure to admire the beautiful and well preserved buildings decorated with yellow-glazed tile roofs, white marble bases and splendid colourful paintings. Late afternoon return back to hotel. After some relax in hotel transfer to Acrobatic Show (optional) -The Flying Acrobatic Show". Performed by highly-trained Chinese acrobats & circus performers, known as the Beijing Acrobatic Troupe. Action packed with outstanding feats, beautiful choreography, colour and excitement — the show is one of the favourite nightlife venues in the wondrous "City of Peking". DAY 10: SEPT 24 – BEIJING SIGHTSEEING
Today after breakfast, drive about 70km to witness one of the Seven Wonders of the World – the Great Wall. on the way, you will visit the Jade Factory continue your journey towards the Great Wall of China at badaling pass segment with return cable car . The Great Wall built in the Ming Dynasty. It will more than live up to all of your expectations! You can take a cable car or an enjoyable 40 minute walk to set your feet on the historic Great Wall. Then climb up its rising towers to enjoy scenic views of the wall as it wriggles along mountain ridges and you take brag-worthy photos. Then after Chinese lunch, you will visit the Spirit Way, the Ming Tombs at Changling. Chinese lunch and Indian dinner.
DAY 11: SEPT 25 – BEIJING SIGHTSEEING
After breakfast drive to the outskirts of Beijing to spend an enjoyable time in the Summer Palace, the largest and best-preserved royal garden in China. Stroll around ancient pavilions, mansions, temples, bridges and corridors while feasting your eyes on the vast lotus in Kunming Lake and the colorful paintings in the Long Corridor. Then drive to the imperial site of the Temple of Heaven. Originally a site used to pay homage to Heaven and pray for good harvests, it is now a bustling place where locals take part in traditional activities such as Tai Chi, dancing, kite flying, water calligraphy, and others. DAY 12 : SEPT 26 – BEIJING – SHANGHAI
Post breakfast Transfer to Train station for super fast bullet train to Shanghai. On arrival in Shanghai meet & transfer to restaurant for lunch. Latter in the evening you will be transferred to Huangpu River cruise. Huangpu River is not only the mother river of Shanghai, which divides the city into east and west parts, but also assembles the splendid attractions of the city. Situated on the west bank of the Huangpu River, the Bund is the symbol and highlight of a Shanghai vacation. New finance and commercial houses as well as grand buildings built in 1930s in the European architectural styles cluster along the Bund. DAY 13: SEPT 27 – SHANGHAI
Post breakfast Yunan Garden is the largest of Shanghai's ancient gardens with Ming and Qing architectural styles. The garden has six areas, each with its own style. The Grand Rockery, in the center of the Garden, is the most renowned sight. Near the garden, there is the Old City God Temple, where various of local snack shops and streets are scattered around.
Oriental Pearl TV Tower is the modern symbol and must-see for a typical vacation in Shanghai. Standing beside the Huangpu River and opposite the Bund with a height of 1,536 feet (468 meters), it is the tallest TV tower in Asia. This unusual structure that dominates the skyline is a great attraction to visitors. Moreover, Shanghai Tower, the highest multi-purpose skyscraper in the country, offers the full extent of Lujiazui and Puxi areas, attracting more and more visitors to appreciate the beautiful panorama of this modern city. Neighboring this tower, stand another two skyscrapers, namely, the World Financial Center and Jin Mao Tower. DAY 14: SEPT 28 – SHANGHAI – KUNMING
Breakfast & Transfer to Shanghai airport to fly for Kunming. On arrival Kunming airport you will be transferred to Kunming hotel. Dinner and overnight Kunming Hotel.
DAY 15: SEPT 29 – KUNMING – KOLKATA
Today after breakfast in hotel check out and then leave for Stone Forest - Kunming, capital of Yunnan Province, is known as 'the City of Eternal Spring' for its pleasant climate and flowers that bloom all year long. With a history of more than 2,400 years, it was the gateway to the celebrated Silk Road that facilitated trade with Tibet, Sichuan, Myanmar, India and beyond. Today it is the provincial political, economical and cultural center of Yunnan as well as the most popular tourist destination in southwest China.
Kunming Stone Forest, Shilin in Chinese, known since the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 A.D.) as the 'First Wonder of the World', is in Lunan Yi Nationality Autonomous County, which is about 120 kilometers (75 miles) from Kunming and requires only a three-hour drive. It covers an area of 400 square kilometers (96,000 acres) and includes both large and small stone forests, as well as many other scenic spots. An old local saying says that 'If you have visited Kunming without seeing the Stone Forest, you have wasted your time.' Truly, the site is one of the most important attractions of Yunnan. Later also visit the Flower & Bird Market. Chinese Lunch, Indian Dinner and finally in the evening transfer to Kunming airport to fly back your home country India. DAY 16: SEPT 30 – ARRIVE INDIA, KOLKATA AIRPORT
